Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 2026
We respect your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. Plain language, no surprises.
What We Collect
When you donate or join
Name, email, mailing address, phone (if provided), and payment information. We also record donation amount, date, and any designations (like tribute gifts).
When you sign up for our newsletter
Email address, name (if provided), and interests you select.
When you register for events
Name, email, and any information needed for the specific program (like emergency contacts for field trips).
When you browse our website
Basic analytics: pages visited, time on site, general location (city-level), device type, and how you found us. We don't track you across other websites.
How We Use Your Information
- Process donations — send receipts, acknowledgments, and tax documentation
- Send communications — newsletters, event invitations, renewal reminders (you can opt out)
- Improve our programs — understand what's working and what our community cares about
- Recognize supporters — in our annual report and on our website (unless you request anonymity)
Who We Share With
We don't sell your information. Ever.
We use trusted services to operate:
- Stripe — payment processing (they handle your card info; we never see it)
- Salesforce — donor and member records
- Constant Contact — email newsletters
- Cloudflare — website hosting and security
These services only access what they need to do their job and are bound by their own privacy policies.
Cookies
We use minimal cookies for website functionality and basic analytics. We don't use advertising cookies or trackers.
Your Choices
- Unsubscribe from emails anytime using the link at the bottom of every message
- Request anonymity for your donations — just let us know
- Access or correct your information — email us and we'll help
- Request deletion — we'll remove what we can while keeping records required for tax and legal purposes
How We Protect Your Information
We use industry-standard security: encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure payment processing, and access controls on our internal systems. Only staff who need information to do their jobs can access it.
Children
Our website isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes to This Policy
If we make significant changes, we'll update the date at the top and, if the change affects how we use existing data, we'll notify you by email.
