Guided Hike

Discover a Wetland Gem Protected by Conservation Easement

Friday, October 9, 2026 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Visit a 130-acre private wetland gem protected by a Door County Land Trust Conservation Easement, nestled near the Bayshore Blufflands Preserve. On this guided hike, you’ll explore a variety of wetland habitats, including ephemeral streams and ponds (in their dry phase), sedge meadow, conifer swamp, shrub-carr, and spring-fed ponds via boardwalks and woodland trails. Along the way, you’ll observe how reptiles, amphibians, and aquatic invertebrates respond to seasonal changes in temperature and water levels. Fall transitions will also be on display in the plant community, from golden-needled tamarack to the vivid colors of deciduous and coniferous trees as they draw nutrients back into their roots. You’ll also gaze at a few of the site’s 30 species of mosses, which become especially active with the onset of leaf-off. This moderate 1.2-mile loop hike requires sturdy hiking shoes and is suitable for all ages. This guided hike is being offered to Door County Land Trust members only. Not a member?
